About Me

I've always been drawn to helping people, but my path to becoming a counsellor truly began when I understood firsthand what it meant to face a chronic health diagnosis.

These experiences didn't just inspire me to become a counsellor; they shaped how I work. It's also why although I am trained to explore many different issues, I choose to specialise in the mental health challenges faced by those with chronic and serious health conditions. I am also particulary passionate about supporting the mental health of women on their journey through the perimenopause and the menopause itself. I understand what it's like to juggle medical appointments with everyday life, to manage both physical and mental health, and to feel misunderstood by those who haven't walked this path. This empathy sits at the heart of my practice. In addition, I am also particulary passionate in supporting people through their personal bereavements which also includes the loss of a pet. I have undertaken much continuing professional development to support people through their bereavement journey.

I qualified in 2012 with a First Class Honours degree in Counselling, and I've spent many years supporting people through some of life's most difficult moments. I worked for ten years as a voluntary counsellor in substance misuse services in Guildford, Surrey, where I saw how deeply physical and mental health are intertwined. That experience reinforced my belief that healing happens when someone truly listens without judgement.

My Person-Centred approach means our sessions are led by you and what matters most to you. I draw on the clinical theory of Transactional Analysis and use some CBT techniques and exercies to help you to explore more fully when appropriate.

You might also meet my colleague, Wellie. He's my eleven-year-old Labrador who lies at my feet during sessions. You'll probably hear him snoring! Wellie has his own story of resilience, having been given just a year to live before pioneering treatment from Professor Noel Fitzpatrick gave him titanium front legs and a new lease on life.
